Makers and creators of all ages get their hands on all things fibre with this family-friendly, fun and interactive exploration!

  • Try spinning and weaving on the Hooser Textile Studio looms and spinning wheels with tips from expert staff and volunteers.
  • Families try their hands at easy textile crafts to take home. Weave on an inkle loom, make a sheep craft or God’s eye, and try out a loom made from drinking straws.
  • Visit the Hooser Library and examine rare textile books and archival material.
  • Discover our unique working Jacquard loom – one of only two in Canada.
  • Visit with fluffy Angora bunnies.
  • Meet fashion historian Ivan Sayers and view his amazing antique lace collection.
  • Fibre arts guilds will be on hand spinning the story of the cloth you wear.

Take in the Fibre Arts & Crafts Fair, then join entertaining fashion historian Ivan Sayers for a history of lace in fashion from the 1700s–1960s. See a slide show presentation and samples from Ivan’s vast textile collection. 1 session $5
