This summer, join us for guided walks in Surrey's nature parks and learn a little more about the urban forest that we are lucky to call home!

Drop-in, rain or shine. Parent participation required for children ages 13 and under.

Guided Nature Walks Schedule

Surrey Nature Centre Discovery. Drop in for a weekly guided nature walk! Visit often to experience the seasonal changes along the trails of the Surrey Nature Centre and get to know the wildlife that call this place home.

Meet at the Surrey Nature Centre.

Sat, July 8 10am - 11am Crescent Park (132 St and 26 Ave) 5+

Crescent Park Nature Discovery - for Kids! Come discover art in nature! Look up close at nature's patterns and colours, watch a tree dance, paint with grass stains and create your own masterpiece in the forest.

Meet in the east parking lot, next to the playground.

Sat, July 8 2pm - 3:30pm Elgin Heritage Park (Crescent Rd between 136 St and 32 Ave) 10+ Habitats of Elgin Heritage Park. Come out for a guided tour where land meets water. Look for eagles, ducks, muskrats and songbirds as you explore the scenic wetland habitats they call home.

Meet in the west parking lot, next to the park map kiosk.
Fri, July 21 1pm - 2pm Historic Stewart Farm (13723 Crescent Rd) 55+

Riverfront Walk - for Seniors! Borrow some binoculars for birdwatching, check out the honeybee hives and search for the owl who lives in the barn. Afterwards, take a rest on the shaded veranda of the farmhouse and enjoy other activities as part of Surrey's Seniors in the Park program. This walk is about 500m on packed gravel with some gentle slopes.

Wed, July 26 1pm - 2pm Bear Creek Park (13750 - 88 Ave) 55+

Bear Creek Wildlife Walk - for Seniors! Search for songbirds, look for the eagle's nest and take a peek in the creek - who will you see? Afterwards, relax in the shade and enjoy other activities as part of Surrey's Seniors in the Park program. This walk is about 650m on flat packed gravel and asphalt.

Meet at the entrance to the gardens.

Sat, August 12 10am - 11am Bose Forest Park (6203 - 164 St) 5+

Bose Forest Park Discovery - for Kids! Get to know one of Surrey's newest parks! Along the way, search for secret animal hiding spots and cross boardwalks over a cool stump.

Meet in the parking lot.

Sat, August 12 2pm - 3:30pm Bose Forest Park (6203 - 164 St) 10+

Bose Forest Park Discovery. Get to know one of Surrey's parks! Walk along forest paths and boardwalks and visit some highlights of this complex forest community including a mysterious charred stump and a tree covered in fungus.

Fri, August 18 1pm - 2pm Historic Stewart Farm (13723 Crescent Rd) 55+

Forest Walk - for Seniors! Look for the resident family of Great horned owls and learn about nurse stumps and our local trees. Afterwards, take a rest on the shaded veranda of the farmhouse and enjoy other activities as part of Surrey's Seniors in the Park program. This walk is about 500m on packed gravel paths which at times are narrow and uneven.

Meet at the farmhouse.

The Sunnyside Acres Heritage Society hosts educational walks through Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest on the first Tuesday of every month. Tours leave at 10am from the Wally Ross Parking Lot (24 Ave between 144 St and 148 St). Pre-registration required for these walks; e-mail roymstrang@gmail.com.
