Surrey Civic Treasure Award

The Surrey Civic Treasure Award recognizes and celebrates Surrey’s highest achievers in the cultural sector. The Civic Treasure Award Program:

  • Honours and celebrates individuals who contribute in a significant manner to the cultural sector of Surrey.
  • Generates greater awareness, interest and support for the arts and heritage.
  • Promotes cross cultural sharing and builds awareness, understanding and community pride.

The 2017 Civic Treasure Awards will be presented on October 3 at the annual Business and the Arts Reception. Read about the 2016 Civic Treasure Award Recipients.

Nominations

The 2017 nominations are being received until Friday, April 28. If you would like to nominate someone please review the list of required documents for nomination.

Nominee criteria

Nominees should meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Surrey resident, have been born in Surrey, or have a strong connection to the City of Surrey.
  • Demonstrate excellence and contribute significantly to the appreciation and development of culture in Surrey.
  • Reflect the unique character and history of the city.
  • Represent a significant achievement in arts, heritage, cultural industries, cultural tourism, multiculturalism or related advocacy and philanthropy in Surrey.

Required documents for nomination

  1. A written submission of approximately 300 words to describe the nominee and outline their accomplishments and contributions to the development and promotion of:
    • arts
    • heritage
    • cultural industries
    • cultural tourism
    • multiculturalism
    • related advocacy and philanthropy in Surrey
  2. References to other individuals who may be able to provide further support for this nomination
  3. The name, address and contact information for the nominee and include your name and contact information

A community Advisory Committee is instrumental in the selection process for the Civic Treasure Award Program.
