Surrey's Food Truck Program

Site with Food Truck

Mobile food vendors have been a popular attraction at Surrey special events and farmer’s markets.  The City has seen an increase in the number of event organizers that want mobile food vendors to provide food services at their events.

Requirements to Operate

Although the City went through a competition process to select vendors to work at City approved locations, other vendors can operate a food truck at festivals and events held on City Land, upon receiving approval from the individual organizers of the festivals and events and meeting the City's requirements to operate.

Approved Vendors

The City sought out interested food trucks (operators of trucks, trailers, and carts) to apply for a permit to operate at select City approved locations, in addition to being listed as recommended vendors to organizers of outdoor festivals and events in the City.

The following were some of the successful applicants:

As of June 2017, there are 21 additional food trucks that meet all of the City's requirements to work at Festivals and Events in the City.

If you are an event organizer and are looking for food trucks to attend your event, for a list of all approved food trucks, please contact Sukhi Bahia, Business Systems Coordinator, by email at ssbahia@surrey.ca or by phone at 604-501-5046.

Background information on Surrey's Food Truck Program

In 2012, Council received a delegation that requested the City consider a food truck program. On July 15, 2013, Council approved in principle the development of the program and directed staff to gather input from the public and other key stakeholders, along with finding ideal locations and devising program logistics.  Staff found that the feedback from key stakeholders was positive and constructive.  Based on the research and consultation, staff developed a program complete with approved site locations and program logistics. On May 12, 2014, Council gave approval to staff to implement the program.
